Heartbreaking. But I'm so glad you put that out where we could read it. My cousin died this last summer, thirty-five years old, with the pinnacle of physical achievement being the ability to feed himself while strapped to an oversized toddler chair. As the author said, our struggle for all those thirty-five years was not to help him overcome his disabilities, but learn to love him and accept him as he was.
